Springtime = stones + lambs / Primavera = pedras + cordeirinhos

Hello everyone!
       It's Spring in Norway and we've been having many beautiful sunny and warm days and some rainy days too. During these days I've been learning about farm life in Norway and I found out that there are two elements that are very important in this context: stones and lambs!
    Stones because, since it's time to prepare the fields for sowing seeds, many of our staff go out on the fields picking up stones that might hinder the growth of the seeds. It's not an easy or pleasant job, but it's important and necessary for good results in the Fall. I was not part of it personally, but as I looked at my friends that did and came back all dirty but with a big smile on theirs faces, I thought about two things: 1. how much more fun things can be when you work together with others and 2. how sometimes we just see the results of our hard work some time (or a long time!) later.
     Lambs because springtime is when the lambs are born here in the farm! It's so nice to see the new lambs coming and everyone gets excited about them, specially the children. But this year I learned that if a sheep delivers three lambs, she will probably reject one of them because she can only nurse two at time. Here in Norway they call that lamb "kopplam", which means "cup lamb" because the farmer can choose to save it and feed it with a cup or bottle. We actually have a kopplam this year, we call it "lille lam" (little lamb). The cool thing is that this lamb is the most loved one by everyone: it gets so much attention from all the children and also from the farmers, it is fed with a bottle and carried around by everyone and it is the only who has a name and gets to come out of the barn and run around and after the kids as we all play with it. And as I was there watching this scene, I was thinking that in the same way that lille lam gets to experience our love and care in a special way because it was rejected, we also get to experience God's love and care in a special way when we suffer some kind of rejection or when we go through hardships. Then we can understand that verse that says that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him."(Romans 8:28 NIV)

Thank you for being part of my life and what I'm doing here. God bless you abundantly!
